dynamic wellness counselling
my qualifications
My journey in the health industry began during my Bachelors of Arts degree, in which I double majored in psychology and music.
I originally had plans to be a composer, before I experienced the grief of my best friend's passing, while being at breaking point with my consistently poor mental and physical health.
I went to therapy and found holistic wellness - and it worked.
whole, complete, full, comprehensive
aka
holistic
I wanted to feel well in every way I could.
I decided to shift paths. I majored in psychology, while also studying as much as I could in my spare time about traditional and modern holistic wellness. This included studying reiki healing in India, completing my 200 hour yoga teacher training and certifying in Health & Nutrition coaching while attaining a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.
Holistic wellness means that we consider all types of wellness in your counselling;
emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, and financial
In wellness counselling, we work together to improve every type of wellness in your life, not just emotional and mental.

what is a wellness counsellor?
and how can I help you?
firstly, that's a brilliant question ;)
A Wellness Counsellor is a qualified professional with a graduate qualification at NQF level 7, equipped with 100 hours of practical experience.
Employing a holistic approach, these counsellors focus on enhancing the overall well-being of clients, addressing the integrated unity of body, mind, and spirit.
Their primary healthcare level services include individual, group, and marriage counselling, life coaching, trauma and addiction counselling, HIV/AIDS support, and assistance in human development.
Wellness Counsellors play a crucial role in resolving conflicts, improving relationships, and aiding clients in coping with life challenges, ultimately contributing to an improved quality of life.
While their scope of practice is broad, it excludes psychotherapy, social work, medical health, and occupational therapy. The counsellor's competencies within their scope involve applying interpersonal skills, utilizing counselling tools, incorporating health and wellness knowledge, and managing consultations with adherence to ethical and legal standards.
Referral to specialised professionals is mandatory if issues beyond their scope, such as mood disorders or medical level health-related problems, are identified.
